The Startup Owner’s Manual – by Steve Blank and Bob Dorf

I bought The Startup Owner’s Manual many years ago and I’m still using it heavily.

First, if you don’t know Steve Blank, stop for a minute and check his blog. The guy is a startup guru and this book is #1 Amazon Title in “Entrepreneurship” category.

In the first chapters of the book, you’ll read about essential concepts, principles and rules that bring you the right entrepreneurial mindset to understand your role as a founder.

In the rest of the book, you’ll see a step-by-step guide to build, test and measure your solution. This comprehensive guide is extremely objective, well organized and it counts with many schemes to help you on the understanding.

You’ll also find very helpful that The Startup Owner’s Manual provides a separation between physical products and digital products startups. Yes, they have significant differences, so don’t be afraid if your startup is one kind or the other.

Also you’ll find useful checklists at the appendix so you can go through the process in an even more methodical way.

However, it’s important to say that this is dense reading. You’ll not finish it in one sit. In fact, the authors put several warnings for you to take a time to practice, before going on with the reading. So, if you intend to read something quick and soft this is not the right book for you.

But, if you want a guide to thoroughly put into practice its content, certainly you’ll not regret the reading.

Buy it on Amazon.

Check other books I have in my bookshelf.
