I bought The Startup Owner’s Manual many years ago and I’m still using it heavily.
First, if you don’t know Steve Blank, stop for a minute and check his blog. Steve is a startup guru and this book is the #1 Amazon Title in the “Entrepreneurship” category.
In the first chapters of the book, you’ll read about essential concepts, principles, and rules that bring you the right entrepreneurial mindset to understand your role as a founder.
In the rest of the book, you’ll see a step-by-step guide to build, test, and measure your solution. This comprehensive guide is extremely practical and well-organized, and it counts on many schemes to help you boost your learning.
You’ll also find it very helpful that The Startup Owner’s Manual provides a separation between physical products and digital products startups. Yes, they have significant differences, so don’t be afraid if your startup is one kind or the other.
Also, you’ll find useful checklists in the appendix so you can go through the process in an even more methodical way.
However, it’s important to say that this is dense reading. You’ll not finish it in one sitting. In fact, the authors put several warnings for you to take a time to practice, before going on with the reading. So, if you intend to read something quick and soft this is not the right book for you.
But, if you want a guide to thoroughly put into practice its content, certainly you’ll not regret the reading.
